Leave behind the bustle of modern life and step back in time with this captivating Islamic Cairo Tour. Journey through history to the Middle Ages, where time seems to have paused, preserving a legacy of Islamic architecture and culture. In the heart of Cairo lies El Darb el Ahmar, a street filled with historic gems: ornate mosques, historic homes, grand palaces, mausoleums, ancient colleges, one of Cairo’s old gates, and parts of the city walls that once defended against invading armies. Beyond these sites, immerse yourself in the lively handicrafts market, then relax with a delicious lunch at El Azhar Park, a stunning green haven offering breathtaking views of the “City of a Thousand Minarets.”
Your adventure with Nut Travel begins as our guide picks you up from your Cairo hotel and brings you to El Azhar Park. Here, a golf cart will take you on a guided journey through old Islamic Cairo, beginning at Bab Zuweila, Cairo's southern gate, dating back to 1092 AD. Our first stop is the El Saleh Tala’i Mosque (1160), followed by the Qijmas Ishaqi Mosque, or Abu Hariba Mosque (1482 AD), which is depicted on the 50 Egyptian pound note.
Continuing by golf cart, we’ll visit the Ahmed El Mehmendar Mosque (1324 AD) and El Altinbugha al-Maridani Mosque (1340 AD), and step into Bayt Al-Razzaz Palace, a beautifully preserved residence constructed between the late 15th and late 18th centuries. Next, explore the striking Aqsunqur Mosque, also known as the Blue Mosque of Cairo (1347 AD), before viewing other iconic historical sites.
The tour concludes with a short video presentation at El Azhar Park’s showroom and a relaxing lunch at a high-quality restaurant within the park. Following this enriching day, you’ll be comfortably returned to your hotel for a restful night in Cairo.
Let Nut Travel guide you through the unforgettable treasures of Cairo’s Islamic heritage.
